GAME PLAY
__________________________________________________________________________________

Dracula's Castle is seperated into various areas, each filled with dangerous foes who will try to impede your progress to Dracula by attacking you. For the most part, they are slow, easily avoided encounters that you may avoid simply by keeping a respectable distance away from them. While in the "FIELD", you may walk around by pressing the arrow keys, investigate things of interest with the spacebar, and even bring up the menu to access your inventory by pressing either (ESC) or (ALT). When an enemy touches you, or in certain story driven encounters, you will be forced into battle!

From the FIELD, you may also access your MENU and view important information about your character, such as previewing vital statistics, weapons and armor, and even change volume settings.

Battle is a straightforward affair between you and your opponent, ending when one of you wins, and the other is a pile of dust on the floor of Dracula's Castle. Turns are decided by the game based on whoever has the higher Agility, for the faster you are, the more actions you may take. Once your turn comes up, time stops, and you may decide what one action you wish to perform - be it a physical attack, the use of a special ability, or whether to use an item from your stored inventory, OR whether to force your opponent to take an action themselves!

Standard physical attacks do not consume items or Mana, which is reserved solely for special skills. While free, physical attacks are often weak, wildly inaccurate, and not especially effective against Dracula's minions.

Special Skills are aquired by defeating bosses stationed throughout Dracula's Castle, and all consume Mana. When your mana is insufficient, you may find some skills are unable to be used. You may refill your Mana by sleeping in a coffin, speaking with a holy statue, or through the use of a rare, hidden skill. You may also reduce the amount of Mana your skills take by increacing your Soul. These skills are all unique, powerful, and nearly impossible to defeat Dracula without them!

Items and Tools may also be used in battle, but do NOT consume Mana. Some tools restore your precious health, others inflict damage upon enemy forces. It will be up to you to discover all their functions, but a quick inspection through your inventory may reveal some important clues on how to use them.

When an enemy is defeated, they will increace your number of kills, which affect your level. The more murders and kills you commit, the less likely it is that your character will revert to being a human at the game's conclusion, so seek to limit your slaughter to foes you are certain will aid you better at improving your abilities.
